An interview with Shantell and Justin
It all started when…
Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?
A: We moved here from Washington State. Prior to our carpet cleaning business my husband and I had our own business in flooring sales, installation and repair. (For 12 years)
Q: Why did you open your business in this community?
A: We were drawn to Ahwatukee for its sense of community. We were in search of a safe, health-conscious, enjoyable community to raise our children. After much consideration we landed here.
Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?
A: My second baby was a thumb-sucker. After having my carpets cleaned, I started learning about the dangerous chemical residue left in the carpets. I was afraid for my family’s safety! Especially since I knew he would be putting those hands in his mouth. I began the search for a safer method. After all, what was the point in feeding my kids organic baby food when they were absorbing chemicals from the very floor they played on?! I was sure that as others saw the harmful effects of chemical residue they too would appreciate a pure and natural method. Being an entrepreneur at heart I set out to offer something better for people like us who are concerned about our family’s health and safety. We chose the name Barefoot Organic Carpet Care because it reminds me of that comfortable feeling of bare feet on thick, soft, pure, guilt free cleaned carpet.
Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?
A: We provide carpet, upholstery, and tile/grout cleaning. We know firsthand how carpet is made and installed. We know how it wears and how to repair damage. And, if the need arises, can replace it for you or offer 24hr on call emergency flood service. We are IICRC certified technicians, which is the highest standard, nationally recognized in the carpet cleaning industry. We offer a powerful combination of plant-based and food-grade cleaning agents. In search of the very best product, I personally toured the facility where our solutions are made. (All sources grown in the U.S.A.) These products offer “power of nature, with peace of mind”.
Q: What does your business have in store for the future?
A: We want to earn the trust of our Ahwatukee neighbors. Our goal is to exceed your expectations and become a trusted source when it comes to any flooring issues that might come up. We don’t have any high pressure sales techniques; we treat others as we would want to be treated.
Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?
A: We offer a premium service at a reasonable price. You might think “It’s organic so it must be expensive.” Actually we offer very competitive pricing, even a price match guarantee for similar service.
