Traditional Chemicals vs. Our Organic Solutions
Other Carpet Cleaners
Less than 10% of carpet cleaners are using “green” products. And usually green only means they’ve reduced, not eliminated, the harsh carcinogens in their chemicals.
Inevitably, some chemicals are left in your carpet in the form of residue. 90% of carpet cleaners are still using chemicals with:
Borine & chlorine
MEA, EDTA, TEA
Artificial fragrance or coloring
Other undesirable compounds
Barefoot Organic Carpet Care

An interview with Shantell and Justin
It all started when…
Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?
A: We moved here from Washington State. Prior to our carpet cleaning business my husband and I had our own business in flooring sales, installation and repair. (For 12 years)
Q: Why did you open your business in this community?
A: We were drawn to Ahwatukee for its sense of community. We were in search of a safe, health-conscious, enjoyable community to raise our children. After much consideration we landed here.
Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?
A: My second baby was a thumb-sucker. After having my carpets cleaned, I started learning about the dangerous chemical residue left in the carpets. I was afraid for my family’s safety! Especially since I knew he would be putting those hands in his mouth. I began the search for a safer method. After all, what was the point in feeding my kids organic baby food when they were absorbing chemicals from the very floor they played on?! I was sure that as others saw the harmful effects of chemical residue they too would appreciate a pure and natural method. Being an entrepreneur at heart I set out to offer something better for people like us who are concerned about our family’s health and safety. We chose the name Barefoot Organic Carpet Care because it reminds me of that comfortable feeling of bare feet on thick, soft, pure, guilt free cleaned carpet.
Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?
A: We provide carpet, upholstery, and tile/grout cleaning. We know firsthand how carpet is made and installed. We know how it wears and how to repair damage. And, if the need arises, can replace it for you or offer 24hr on call emergency flood service. We are IICRC certified technicians, which is the highest standard, nationally recognized in the carpet cleaning industry. We offer a powerful combination of plant-based and food-grade cleaning agents. In search of the very best product, I personally toured the facility where our solutions are made. (All sources grown in the U.S.A.) These products offer “power of nature, with peace of mind”.
Q: What does your business have in store for the future?
A: We want to earn the trust of our Ahwatukee neighbors. Our goal is to exceed your expectations and become a trusted source when it comes to any flooring issues that might come up. We don’t have any high pressure sales techniques; we treat others as we would want to be treated.
Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?
A: We offer a premium service at a reasonable price. You might think “It’s organic so it must be expensive.” Actually we offer very competitive pricing, even a price match guarantee for similar service.
Allergies and Sensitivities
It’s a common misconception that those with allergies are better off without carpet in their home. But with proper maintenance, it can help reduce air-born allergens. Find out more…
More people than ever suffer from allergies and chemical sensitivities. We offer a solution and process that not only reduces allergens in your home but cleans effectively without using chemicals.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
For a long time, there’s been a misconception that carpet exacerbates asthma and allergy symptoms. In fact, the opposite is true. Studies have shown that properly cleaned and maintained carpet not only reduces asthma and allergy problems, it’s actually the best flooring for people who suffer from them.
• There is no scientific study linking the rise of allergy and asthma to the use of carpet. Indeed, several studies actually disprove any correlation.
• A 15-year Swedish study found no link between carpet usage and the incidence of allergy or asthma. In fact, when carpet usage in Sweden decreased by 70 percent, allergy reactions in the general population increased by 30 percent.1
• Also, an 18-nation study of nearly 20,000 people found a statistical relationship between carpeted bedrooms and reduced asthma symptoms and bronchial responsiveness.2
• One more point: A 2003 study of more than 4,600 school children in New Jersey found that having carpet in a child’s bedroom was associated with fewer missed school days and less need for asthma medication. If carpet helped the children, it can certainly help adults in the same home as well.
• A possible explanation: carpet acts like a filter, trapping allergens away from the breathing zone so they can be removed through proper vacuuming and deep cleaning extraction. For best results removing pollutants trapped in carpet, use CRI Seal of Approval vacuums and CRI Seal of Approval cleaning products and systems. Find out more at carpet-rug.org.
